I decided to start a monthly recommendation post of books I have read or currently reading.
If you are familiar with Chicken Soup for the Soul, this book is from the same title but it focuses on "Finding Your Happiness".
Title: Chicken Soup for the Soul: Find Your Happiness
Author: Collection of Stories ( Various Author)
Pages: 380 pages
Short Introduction: 101 Inspirational Stories about finding your Purpose, Passion, and Joy
I pick up this book in the hopes of getting out of my listless ways. I read 2-3 stories a day and it really is taking effect. The over all vibe of the book is very comforting. Reading personal stories of people from different walks of life, various ages, and learning how they give meaning to the word "happiness" is very assuring.
It made me realise that i'm not the only one feeling what i'm feeling and going through trying times. There are a lot of people out there who are going through worse but are still trying their best to move forward and be better.
One story that stuck with me was "The Great Thanksgiving Challenge". To sum it up, it's about two women( with a habit of complaining) who had an encounter with a homeless person and started realizing how fortunate they are with what they have. They decided to make a challenge; with every complain they have they need to remember something that they are thankful for. They decided to write it down in a notebook with every complaint is a thing to be thankful for. As week progress both of them noticed that they started to complain less and be more grateful.
I think it's an important lesson that I needed to learn. Be grateful with what I have, happiness begins with contentment.
